Summer…

Because this summer is leaving me with nothing better to do, I am going to force myself to get involved on tumblr, before something new comes along and I have to keep up again…

So I just got back from the states for the fourth of July, and my dad buys a “wi-fi extender” because he refuses to pay a little more each month for better Internet service, preferring instead to buy a shitload of hardware that is a bitch to setup and probably more expensive. I absolutely hate that piece of shit, because it is impossible to get working, even after calling Belkin tech support. Even they told me to give up on it. What else do you want? In the middle of all that hassle, something happens that renders my network unusable on all but one computer, as well as all phones. It’s 12:26 am as I type this, and I have to use iPhone’s notes app because the tumblr app won’t work offline after you go into settings. Can this get any worse? What’s worse is that I can actually connect to my network on my phone, but I can go on any page at all. It’s like hanging I right in front of my face, but when I go for it, it’s not really there. How badly this messed up my network I have no idea, but in the end I’m going to have to fix it all myself, because my dad never finishes finishes responsibly. Well at least the Internet still works on my desktop. If that stops working, I think I might go insane…

Even more to mull over is job searching. Looking at Canucks jobs, they have retail openings that would be amazing to work at. Only problem, they require 2 years retail experience. My current experience: 0 exp points. @$&#£>@&$!!!!!! Obviously the smart thing to do would be to find a retail job and work there long enough to be qualified for the Canucks job. One problem: the only one I’ve seen so far online is at American Eagle downtown. I honestly don’t think I’ve shopped at an AE in about 2+ years now and I haven’t considered going there much during that span. On top of that, the Vancouver Whitecaps are hiring 50/50 ticket sellers for their home games. They ask for no experience, give decent bonuses for sales numbers, and give you tickets to the second half of games you sell at? How is that not absolutely AMAZING? Only problem with that is it doesn’t help me at all with my working towards Canucks team store retail. If I started working retail now I could qualify for a Canucks team store job by the end of University year 2. It will always be hockey > soccer for me, but this 50/50 ticket thing is seriously not a bad job. Of course this is all assuming they would even want me to work for them. Just saw a friends post saying 30+ applications had 0 offerings. That is definitely not encouraging…

Geo Trip Day 1 (March 16)

(These are all posts that I wrote during our geo trip but due the fact I could barely connect to any wifi on my phone during the trip, these are being posted now.)

Finally we leave for geo trip. The first day has been exhausting so far but hopefully it will only get better. With the longest bus ride of the trip on the first day, the rest of the trip I definitely worth looking forward too. Our first Mario Kart match has been fun…for me at least. Hehehe…

First lunch was at Jack In The Box in Vancouver, Washington. I swear their medium drink is like bigger than a Canadian large. Curly fries were dinently worth the 30 cents. First meal: 6 bucks and 1 retard moment. Sarah pointed out a sign across the street that advertised a seven dollar all you can eat. After questioning why we weren’t there, I looked for the sign…but it was nowhere to be seen. Even Eric tried to point it out to me, but I continued to be clueless. Eventually, we realized a wooden pile was directly in my line of sight, leading me to seem oblivious. Awkward….

After leaving Jack’s, I realized we missed going to Burgertown. That’s something to add to the to do list…

As for Mario Kart round 2, I think my hot streak came to an end. Thankfully we ended before I could drop to second overall. Screw you Chris. Hopefully a break from gaming will help me get back to dominating. Snaking is absolutely not cheating…

Roller skating was surprisingly fun for the idea. It took a little while to figure out how to turn on the 2x2s but it was still a great experience.

Now we’re on the road again and are making a quick stop at a convenience store. Honestly its just another cheap run-down little shop. It DID have Cinnamon Toast Crunch bars though. Quite interesting.

Back on the road playing Mario Kart and more ragequitters present. Shift to Mario Party but in my honest opinion it’s kind if boring.

Just noticed that my American wireless carrier just changed from at&t to t-mobile. What just happened?

Dinner was absolutely brutal. Eric luckily skipped out and went back to the hotel as me, James, and Oscar went to Denny’s. A lot of other people from our group was there as well. It took us a good 10 minutes to get seated, with about a quarter of the restaurant being occupied. There were only 3 employees on the floor, and they were even short on menus. When we finally made an order, it took about 20 minutes to get our food, with about another 20 before our hotel curfew. At this point another group of about 10 people from our trip had just ordered. Not wanting to wait for them, we start on our own food. It not only took forever, but it tasted like crap too. The potatoes and avocado in my dish made me feel like puking, and it definitely was not a good ending to a mostly annoying and boring day.

Packed, repacked, repacked again, and now it’s 2 o’clock. Well at least I’ll be able to sleep on the bus…

12 more hours…

So its just past 7 as I begin to write this, meaning there’s 12 only hours left until we leave for Geo Trip 2011. Time has gone by so fast. I feel like barely any time has passed since we were planning our overnight wait, and being forced to leave. Its been over 4 months since, and now we’re finally going.

Preparation for the trip has been intense so far. BIG shout out to UBC for nearly taking up my whole day yesterday. Now supposedly the Supplemental Application isn’t due until next week. Well that was definitely better than spending the day studying chem.

I cannot believe this is the first blog I have ever kept. It is so nice to be able to write down any random thoughts that come to my head and know that I can come back and reminisce, and this is getting really, REALLY random.

Well I got a haircut today because of Geo Trip.

Damn why do I keep going shorter and shorter, when every time it grows out it just feels so nice? ps. Can I resize photos here? That just seems excessively big (twss).

I finally got my contact lenses today. Just in time for geo trip and…ULTIMATEEEEEEEE :))))))))))

Now that I think about it, finishing the supplemental was a bit of a blessing in disguise. I have so much more time now today to prep for Geo trip. Now I just wished I got a larger San Fran map. Reprinting multiple maps is gonna be a pain in the ass…

omg ubc

Wow I’ve finally finished my application to UBC. Supplemental only took about 20-30 hours to write, edit, and finalize. No big deal. Considering the magnitude of this, I am SO relieved it is finally over. Now theres only about 30 hours left until we leave for geo trip, and I still have a chem test tomorrow morning. I know, I know…I should be studying, I shouldn’t be blogging, but I just spent 7 HOURS TODAY working on my supplemental. On top of a final Ultimate tryout. I think I deserve at least a little break. Besides, studying chem right after submitting has proven to be rather unproductive. Oh how I hate taking early showers. Midnight showers as a break when working are AMAZING, but taking another one kills your skin. Not sure how many of you are affected by this, but I take rather hot showers, and my skin gets unbelievably dry unless I shower myself in lotion immediately afterwards (THAT’S why I have so much lotion in my bathroom guys….;)). Well this has certainly gotten off topic. Did you guys like imagining me showering? (Don’t lie. I know you did)

I just have one question: How many people got a tumblr to post blogs instead of just sharing other peoples posts?

bonjr tumblr

Hi tumblr. When I decided to use your service, for some reason, I had the feeling I was doing something rather unorthodox and random. Now, after looking through the site a little, especially where I find my friends, I realize: I’m such a laggard. Why did it take me so long to find you? Was it the fact that I’ve never blogged before? Do I not like self expression? Was Twitter *collective gasp* too powerful? A question I have is this: Will you completely eliminate Twitter from my life? or maybe it’s not that you won’t but…you can’t. (THE BLASPHEMY…I KNOW). Well if that last statement didn’t warrant my account getting deactivated and my email blacklisted for life, then I say let’s have a good time together. Lets tell each other stories and gossip, thoughts and opinions, and maybe you’ll take over Facebook as the news source of my life (But probably not. Have you SEEN how many people are using that thing? It’s CRAZY). I realize now that this paragraph has made me seem a bit of a social networking whore, and I have to say; that is NOT true. I just keep my options open. ;)

On a sadder note, I can’t really post anything at a time like this without sending my thoughts and prayers to the people of Japan. Even though we see all the footage on the internet and in the news, the scariest thing is that some of us couldn’t possibly imagine how devastating being there would be. No matter how accurate and close the news brings you, you will never know how it feels until you have been thrown into that situation, and to suffer it yourself. There is nothing that could be said that would make up for all the damage done to the country of Japan, and I hope that anyone who reads this (haha I sound like a serious blogger, even though this is gonna get like 10 views…T_T) takes the time to think of those and help in anyway possible, even if its just bringing awareness to the situation.

Oh and there’s one more thing I have to say before I finish: Tumblr, if we are to have any sort of relationship at all, you must promise to keep my age a secret. I know we had fun 41 years ago, but we have to let that go now. There’s a reason I deleted everything from that time (and I ABSOLUTELY cannot allow people to find out I’m really 56 years old).

Well that went WAY longer than expected.

TAO OUTSIDE MUTHAF*CKA (ok now that’s out of my system. Never speak of it again)
