Summer…
Because this summer is leaving me with nothing better to do, I am going to force myself to get involved on tumblr, before something new comes along and I have to keep up again…
So I just got back from the states for the fourth of July, and my dad buys a “wi-fi extender” because he refuses to pay a little more each month for better Internet service, preferring instead to buy a shitload of hardware that is a bitch to setup and probably more expensive. I absolutely hate that piece of shit, because it is impossible to get working, even after calling Belkin tech support. Even they told me to give up on it. What else do you want? In the middle of all that hassle, something happens that renders my network unusable on all but one computer, as well as all phones. It’s 12:26 am as I type this, and I have to use iPhone’s notes app because the tumblr app won’t work offline after you go into settings. Can this get any worse? What’s worse is that I can actually connect to my network on my phone, but I can go on any page at all. It’s like hanging I right in front of my face, but when I go for it, it’s not really there. How badly this messed up my network I have no idea, but in the end I’m going to have to fix it all myself, because my dad never finishes finishes responsibly. Well at least the Internet still works on my desktop. If that stops working, I think I might go insane…
Even more to mull over is job searching. Looking at Canucks jobs, they have retail openings that would be amazing to work at. Only problem, they require 2 years retail experience. My current experience: 0 exp points. @$&#£>@&$!!!!!! Obviously the smart thing to do would be to find a retail job and work there long enough to be qualified for the Canucks job. One problem: the only one I’ve seen so far online is at American Eagle downtown. I honestly don’t think I’ve shopped at an AE in about 2+ years now and I haven’t considered going there much during that span. On top of that, the Vancouver Whitecaps are hiring 50/50 ticket sellers for their home games. They ask for no experience, give decent bonuses for sales numbers, and give you tickets to the second half of games you sell at? How is that not absolutely AMAZING? Only problem with that is it doesn’t help me at all with my working towards Canucks team store retail. If I started working retail now I could qualify for a Canucks team store job by the end of University year 2. It will always be hockey > soccer for me, but this 50/50 ticket thing is seriously not a bad job. Of course this is all assuming they would even want me to work for them. Just saw a friends post saying 30+ applications had 0 offerings. That is definitely not encouraging…
